  • Trump signed a record 67 executive orders in his first week back in the White House. I recap some of the biggest deal ones here.
  • Trump has decided he won’t enforce SCOTUS’ TikTok ban for 75 days – a decision I disagree with.
  • 4 lawsuits have already been filed against the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). But the fact is, when you overspend while underperforming, you have to find a way to do better with less money, whether you’re the government or a private sector business.
  • Marco Rubio was easily confirmed as Secretary of State. I hope the other appointments go as smoothly. Trump says he plans to replace about 1,000 political appointments in total.
  • Unfortunately, the store closings are still coming – Footlocker (which includes Champs Sports) recently announced they’ll be closing an additional 400 stores. Great economy Biden has left us with, huh?
  • Mortgage have topped 7% for the first time since mid-2024. This is a worrying indicator that 2025 will not be a good year for the housing market – which plays a key role in the overall health of the economy.
  • An estimated 30% - 40% of job postings are actually for ghost jobs, which are positions that do not exist. Aside from wasting applicants time, there could be some other, sinister, repercussions for the business world.
  • Tracy Cram Perkins dropped by this week to discuss her experiences with home dementia care, and how they led to her developing a book and webcast to help others navigate their own journeys.
  • A Christian school in Vermont is the latest to take a stand for athlete safety and forfeit a women’s basketball game against a team with a male player – only, they’re the only ones suffering retaliation.
  • SCOTUS surprised many people when the dominantly conservative court sidestepped on government-mandated Big Tech censorship during COVID.
  • In another recent blow to the administrative state, SCOTUS ruled the statute of limitations for suing under the Administrative Procedures Act doesn’t start until you’re hurt by the agency’s action.
  • A Michigan jury has convicted 7 peaceful pro-life protesters, including a Holocaust survivor, under the FACE act (which is meant to prosecute hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan).
  • The problem of squatters is on the rise in America, and the solution for dealing with them is a lot more complicated than it probably needs to be.
  • John Miles, the leading authority on intentional behavior change, dropped in to talk with me about the behavioral and mindset shifts people need to move from a life of quiet desperation to wherever they actually want to be.
  • China apparently has a new jet made from hacked USA technology. They didn’t even bother to change the numbers on the jet. We have got to get tough with people who are lax with our military secrets.
  • Alaska, Missouri, and Nebraska – all traditionally red states – have voted in favor of increasing their minimum wage and forcing paid sick leave. Just because you’re GOP controlled doesn’t mean you can’t do dumb things!
