We continue with Jarod's story as he shares his experiences and challenges with long term relationships with trans women as a CIS man. He discusses the power dynamics specific to these relationships in terms of socioeconomic structures, dominant and minority cultures, age differences, and negative stereotypes. When explaining his advocacy, Jarod mentions the importance of trans women in leadership and mentoring the younger generation to uplift them, and inspire them to flourish. Tiffany also asks Jarod what he loves about the Thai city of Pattaya, and he cannot emphasize enough the amazing performers, incredible shows and talent that comes from this vibrant community. Jarod’s story has given us insight to the underlying discriminations transwomen face as well as CIS men that are attracted to them. On the other hand, he highlights some great achievements such as policies passed for the trans community in Australia. Jarod is hopeful for the movement and there are still more challenges to overcome!
