On today's episode, we're talking about a lesson I had to learn in order to show up for all that was happening around me. Here's the lesson - we can learn to embrace the good with the bad, the happy with the sad. It's not either/or. When we learn to hold both simultaneously, we can fully experience our life in bigger and better ways.

I used to try and ignore, deny, and suppress the parts of life I didn't like. The problem was that I spent so much time and energy fighting off the bad, that I didn't show up for the good either. When I finally stopped trying to ignore the bad and instead made space for it in my life, I found that the bad would pass so much faster.

There are three steps I've identified to move from a place of pushing away anything I didn't want to embrace, to fully embracing all that life offers.

  1. Awareness - This is step one and all about making space for what is. Without awareness, life is happening to you instead of for you.
  2. Acceptance - We think if we avoid the bad and hard, then life is full of good and happy. 100% BS. Ignoring something doesn't make it not real. You have to learn to accept whatever is happening to you and around you.
  3. Allowance - The final step is learning to fully allow whatever's happening in your life. If we try to push away the bad, it will resurface at a future point, but if we learn to allow it in our lives, it often moves through us and away from us much faster.

If you want to show up for your life completely and create results that matter, you have to learn to embrace ALL that is.  You can do this.
