Episode Summary:

As a breast cancer survivor (two years cancer free!!!), Breast Cancer Awareness Month can trigger lots of fears and memories I’d frankly rather forget. I'm not a fan of re-living what was by far the scariest experience of my life.

But I believe we all go through difficult situations for a reason. And that part of the reason I experienced this journey is so the lessons I learned can flow through me and ripple out to others.

On this episode, I begin a two-part series about my experiences as a breast cancer survivor and how YOU can apply what I’ve learned to push through your own fears and find strength in any situation.

I’ll touch on topics like:

  • Breast health
  • Why paying attention to statistics is so important
  • Why awareness and early-detection can make all the difference
  • How I found out I had breast cancer
  • Treatments and prevention tactics  (so you never have to go through what I went through)
  • Lessons I learned and how it applies to your life

Next week, we’ll dive into how cancer changed my life, what it taught me and how you can get through any difficulties and come out stronger and thriving on the other side.

I recently had a very meaningful conversation with two amazing breast cancer thrivers on a VoiceAmerica radio show, Rock Your Midlife with Dr. Ellen Albertson, on how to view suffering and challenges as opportunities. You can listen to the episode HERE or search Rock Your Midlife wherever you get your podcasts.

“Get your mammograms every single year. Do not delay. Put it on your schedule. If breast cancer is detected early, there is a 99% chance of survival.”
