I'm always looking for ways to improve my site. Recently I realized my "About" page was way overdue for a refresh. I did a deep dive into best practices for about pages and uncovered some great insights.
I want to share a framework that guides how I structured my new About page, along with a few of my top tips.
The PROFILE Framework
Through my research, I developed the "PROFILE" framework for about pages. This acronym lays out the 7 essential sections every about page needs.
I'll touch briefly on each section:
P is for Present Yourself. A short intro lets readers get to know you.
R is Reveal What You're About. Explain your blog's focus and the value you provide.
O is Outline Your Credentials. Share your relevant expertise and credentials.
F is Feature Your Journey. How did you get here? Share your origin story.
I is Illustrate Achievements. Highlight your blogging accomplishments.
L is List Your contact info
E is Exalt Authors. Give credit to any guest contributors or co-authors who have collaborated with you on content
Developing this framework ensured I didn't miss any important elements. And the acronym makes it super easy to remember.
A Few Key Tips
Beyond the PROFILE structure, I gathered a few other key tips that I share at the end.
