Jesus explained his own person, his mission, and the meaning of his coming, his death, burial and resurrection and his return to the Father in the words of the prophets of old. He referred and quoted or alluded to the writings of Moses in the Law, of David in the Psalms and the prophets. This is the place where and he commissions us to do the same. We should the gospel in the earlier revelation and be ready and able to present the good news of the Savior from the shadows and prophets. His command in Luke 24:44-49 Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”  Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead,  and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.  You are witnesses of these things.  And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

We can follow their progress in the Acts as they preached the good news of salvation by faith in the crucified and risen Savior the Messiah Jesus. We are to do the same.
