Jesus' Resurrection Day Commission

Although we often associate Jesus' Great Commission with his appearance in Galilee and the words recorded in Matthew 28, Jesus gave his disciples the commission on a number of occasions during the 40 days between his resurrection and ascension into heaven.  The first time was on the very evening of the day he was raised back to life, recorded in Luke 24 and John 20. His command to share the good news of himself - his person and his accomplishment through the cross and resurrection echoes his prayer to the Father in John 17:21, "As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
