Why does God allow hardship? What is the fast that pleases Him? In today’s reading from Isaiah 54–58, we see that God refines His people through trials—not to hurt us, but to make us holy. He welcomes the foreigner, calls us to justice, and invites us to partner with Him in setting captives free. This is what true fasting looks like.
