Former New York police officer Nicholas Tartaglione—who infamously shared a cell with Jeffrey Epstein before the financier’s death—was sentenced in June 2024 to four consecutive life terms for orchestrating the kidnapping and execution-style murders of four men in 2016. Prosecutors said Tartaglione lured his victims under false pretenses, strangled one over a drug-money dispute, and personally shot the other three before burying them on his property. The case underscored a staggering fall from grace for a sworn officer, revealing a man prosecutors called a “monster” who appeared more concerned for animals in his care than for the human lives he took.
