In this episode of The betterHUMAN podcast, we’re joined by Kevin Musikanth, Technical Director of The Israel Rugby Union.
Kevin’s earliest memories are of watching rugby with his father. Growing up in the seaside town of Muizenberg in Cape Town, he was determined to succeed as a rugby coach at the early age of 17. When the time was right, he packed his bag and took the leap of faith, something Kevin attributes to 50% of his success.
Kevin’s achievements speak for themselves, from winning the prestigious Varsity Cup Tournament in 2014 to securing a game that has been labelled “one of the greatest rugby comebacks of all time”.
Kevin has proven time and again how passion and hard work can lead to ultimate success in sportsmanship. He is the perfect example of finding your passion and turning it into a profession.
Here are a few lessons from Kevin's career in sports that every leader can use to nurture and create a high performance environment for their team.
1. Sometimes it’s the tough players who don't listen to everything that are the ones to bring the big wins.
2. When you believe in yourself, and your team, you will have the strength to take the leap of faith.
3. No team can succeed without a deep likeness, trust and faith in the potential of their peers.
4. Everyone wants to be better, but it takes courage to put aside your talent and trust your mentor to leading you towards the right direction.
Kevin betterHUMAN takeaway is “The world needs more dreamers and less quitters. More believing that good always wins over evil, and until you win you truly never lose. #alwaysbelieveinmagic
