April graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and a minor in psychology. She went on to receive a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 2000.
Her dental practice in State College, PA has been awarded “Best of State College” for the last five years.
Dr. Detar is passionate about serving in her community and has given her time to help treat dental patients at Centre Volunteers in Medicine. She is a dedicated supporter of State College’s Out of the Cold Program for the unsheltered, Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh, and the United Way.
Dr. Detar also volunteers to mentor future dental students through the Eberly College of Science at Penn State.
Dr. Detar is married to her husband, Chris Magent, They have two shelites whom they love with all of their hearts, Duke & Daisy.
She served on her first Misson Trip to Jamaica in the Spring of 2019 where she took out over 100 teeth in just a few days.
