"Why did Jesus die?" A simple Google search reveals 325,000,000 answers, each one different from the next. Every religion that recognizes Jesus has its own explanation.  

Immediately following his death, Jesus’ followers were in a tailspin. Their leader was gone having suffered a death that was contradictory to that prophesied of a Messiah—crucifixion on a cross—and their identity, lost. According to their traditional Hebrew laws, a Messiah wasn’t supposed to die on a tree accursed by God. It wasn’t until Jesus’ resurrection that this small Jewish sect made up of his followers began to reevaluate and shift their understanding of what it meant to be favored by God as Messiah.  

Join us as Pastor Tony continues his sermon series, "Then What?" exploring the challenges and triumphs of the early church and its lessons for us today. Jesus’ death split the Jewish community in half with two opposing beliefs about his designation as Messiah—a division that is paralleled throughout the culture wars of today. 

So what can we do as Christians today? Listen and discover three ways in which you can respond to opposition when you encounter it just as Jesus’ followers did.
