On a plane: We have to start with one of my favorite NT verses “In a day of salvation I have helped you.” Though something is required of the new believer, he or she is also getting divine assistance.  Heavenly Help comes at the moment of greatest need: the pointy end of spiritual conviction.

Then Paul makes a list that his critics were using to DIS-qualify his ministry.  Instead, Paul uses these exact situations to ENDORSE his ministry.  He turns the CONDEMNATIONS to COMMENDATIONS in the upside down world of spiritual truth.  The Corinthians have already been tempted to vote for the slicker, richer, easier competing super-apostles.  The things that Paul and other Christian workers endure should ENDORSE their authenticity.
