Imagine calling your mother and telling her that you are devoted to deceitful demons and now follow the liars that promote their doctrine. She'd be horrified.

But that is exactly what young Timothy was up against.  Paul cautions against leaving the TRUTH, and the Pastors who teach the TRUTH.  It is a sobering call to dial up our devotion to the Lord and His leaders.
