Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’
Please join me and Asa for some thoughts about 2000 mornings with you. We'll gratefully set out an argument for a renewed commitment from both of us. This is especially for those who do NOT regular…
Asaph, the writer of Psalm 73 almost gets it all wrong. His spiritual feet almost make a fatal mistake with a slip: He desires the wrong thing.
If you desire the wrong thing, then you make decisions …
The only way to really understand our not-quite-right world is to drop it into the certainty that is in Psalm 23.
Yup, there is evil, and enemies and the shadow of death. Psalm 23 makes deliberate n…

I shall not want
I will fear no evil
I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever

Though the Lord is busy in Psalm 23, so is our representative knucklehead David. Should I be doing the same things David does in the proclamation of the verses?
Are we doing the activities of David in…
God is doing some stuff in Psalm 23 that we want to be aware of and even access for ourselves. He's given us a great poet, David, to capture perhaps the most beautiful 6 verses in the Bible.

Something written 3500 years old is modern.
We sit under the shade of the trees of JUSTICE and GENEROSITY. We did not plant them. They are very well established.
Who planted them? Moses did with God's help.
How can I find out about their fo…
Much of the interaction of God with people surprises me. I suppose it is a healthy thing to be taken aback with these things:
I had a friend who rebelled from God for more than 26000 days. Then God got a hold on him, and he got a hold on God. After that, because he was old and in poor health, he was in a big hurry to treas…
In the book of Deuteronomy, the good Lord reminds us that He has given us the 4 Superpowers of WORK, Intercession, Obedience, and Reachability.

What is so surprising about Deuteronomy, 3500 years old, is how contemporarily relevant it is. There is so much to glean from its' pages today. We ignore it at our peril. In it the character of God…
