Books are in the spotlight as we look at the future of real books, the kind you can hold, and the stores that sell them.
Our first segment features a couple of Seattle bookstores reporter Anna Daniel visited during a recent broadcast trip to the northwest. People who make their living selling books were happy to discuss their confidence in the future of printed books, despite the online sales and electronic readers that have dominated the market in recent years.
Then we have an in-depth interview with a former HTVer who is now an author. Matt Derrick was part of the very first broadcast class at Hillcrest. Late last year, he wrote a book about Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and it was (and is) a big hit regionally. He talked to Colby Bogle a little about those early days of HTV, and a lot about pulling together the Mahomes book in less than a month.
The "Dig or Diss" segment features our staff sounding off about recycling and composting, post-travel woes, and a brand of shirt that does not handle perspiration well. Seriously, that was an actual thing we discussed.
