Baseball and BBQ Episode #147 Features Photographer, Ken Goodman, and Author, Neil R. Beller, Jr.
Ken Goodman is a freelance photographer specializing in cookbooks, concerts, and food events. More than 50 cookbooks are filled with his mouth-watering photographs. Many of the cookbooks featuring Ken's photos are from pitmasters and chefs we have featured on Baseball and BBQ. There is no doctoring the food which Ken takes pictures of. His skill with a camera is like that of a fine painter with a brush. Prior to photography, Ken spent 20 great years in the restaurant industry as a classically trained chef with a culinary degree from Johnson & Wales University. He still satisfies his cooking vice as a long-time member of the competition barbecue team IQUE, past winners of the Jack Daniel's World Championship of Barbecue. Neil R. Beller, Jr. is a wonderfully funny storyteller. One perk of this podcast is being contacted by individuals we are not yet aware of, but are extremely glad they do. Neil is one such individual. He came on with us to discuss two of his books, The Dish: Stories Spun From The Only Position Player Dumb Enough To Squat Beneath Strangers Who Swing Big Sticks Inches From His Head and Cooking Without A Conscience: Good Eating and Lots of Calories, which he co-authored with Gregory K. Hoffman. Be prepared to laugh hard and out loud. Our conversation is filled with stories most of us can relate to. Visit https://neilbellerauthor.com for more on Neil and his books.
We recommend you go to BBQ Buddha, https://bbqbuddha.com/ for rubs and award-winning sauces, Baseball BBQ, https://baseballbbq.com for special grilling tools and accessories, the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, https://www.pbbclub.com to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag, Magnechef, https://magnechef.com/ for excellent and unique barbecue gloves, and Cutting Edge Firewood https://www.cuttingedgefirewood.com/ for high quality firewood and cooking wood.
We conclude the show with the song, "Baseball Always Brings You Home" by the musician, Dave Dresser, and the poet, Shel Krakofsky.
We truly appreciate our listeners and hope that all of you are staying safe.
