Living the Lifestyle Between Business and Play (13:05)

A glimpse of the blissful life in Bali. Whether it’s off-season or discovering some awesome non-tourist spots, one could easily get in the Bali bubble. As a business owner who loves to surf, it’s always important to get the right perspective in all that you do. Understand what you want and how you’d want to achieve it. From board discussions to mentoring and finding a good coach, everything should lead to one goal -- And that is to get better everyday.

“So many guys are chasing these tiny boards and are so barrel focused.. But the reality is for most people out there is you’re not catching barrels, you just want to be a better surfer, ride more waves, so I would go off a bit from what the “pros” ride, that’s for sure.”

Finding Balance with Productivity, Structure and Technology Tools (34:21)

Every business needs an appropriate amount of discipline and hardwork. Beyond amazing work ethic, it’s also important to identify business burn-out. Take time-outs to reflect and know what works for you. Learn the ropes of your platform and always explore for new options. Focus on your product and prove to yourself that there is a market for it.

“It’s super important these days to have a strong brand and really really good products and those fundamental things.”

The Catalyst That Will Define Business Standpoints (52:17)

Business challenges may come unexpected and most often it can really knock you down. By understanding these risks and knowing how to leverage options can greatly work to your advantage. The e-commerce space is awesome, especially if you want that location interdependence with unlimited scale opportunity. The tough part however, is keeping up with all the changes. It’s such a fast paced space but catching on the fundamentals to achieve that business goal is worth all the risk.

“pick a market that you really know… “

What’s Worth Your Time and Task Delegation (1:08:38)

It’s always a trial and error for any start-up. Being able to identify as to what adds more value to your time is a critical skill that every business owner should acquire. This way financial decisions and efficient task delegation could further streamline your process and in turn minimize mistakes.

“...as your business grows and you're at different stages, you just gotta keep your ears open and try to pull your head out of the waves..”

The Relationship Between Mentoring and ROI (1:17:06)

It’s always great and helpful to find a good mentor, but always look for hard proof. Do something that’s not too big of an investment, time and money wise and go from there. Get someone who you would really need at that time. If you’re going to put money into something, then you’d surely want to have that return.

“I dip my toe in the water with someone. I might do something that’s not too big an investment in time and money wise and then go from there.”

Business Technology and Tools (1:35:30)

Always take 100% responsibility in everything that happens in the business. Execute ideas and use tools to measure productivity. Know those tools and make your metrics straight to the point. This will help identify wastage and maximize cost.

“Go through the shit, feel bad about it but then pull yourself out and figure out what to do to fix it and then to actually fix it.. execution. People that always have all these ideas is great but execution for me is like 95% of business. You can have the best ideas in the world but if you don’t execute.. Discipline and consistent discipline and action is what success is about.”

Tips and Recommendations (1:46:26)

Read a good book and get your own internet access and VPN when traveling and running a business at the same time. Also don’t forget to upgrade or renew your computer at least every two years and don’t forget your backup. That is the most important tool for every business and digital nomad.

“... I’m time poor like most people. But what this book [The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday] does to me is it just gives you little perspectives on life. Reading something like that for two minutes can totally set my whole day up for feeling great about the day and get into it.”
