In July 1995, Elyse Pahler’s friends killed her in a Satanic ritual sacrifice to help their death metal band get famous. The teens were obsessed with the band Slayer and shaped their worldview around the band's song lyrics.  Pahler’s bloody death rocked her community and led to one of the most notable lawsuits in music history. Elyse's murder also inspired the 2009 movie Jennifer's Body.
