This week’s Discussion and Drinks episode, Jimmy and Mike have a pretty spirited debate about dynamics of bands within a scene. Specifically how difficult it was to book an opening band for their upcoming show this weekend at a brand new venue, that could potentially help open the door for the scene overall. Mike argues that people need to get over themselves and their precious egos, even offering up Something Heavy to open the show. Jimmy argues that maybe there are other things at play, ie prior engagements, other shows in close proximity, their crowd being a “later crowd” and more. Is Mike too much of a Negative Nancy due to former band PTSD? Is Jimmy being a Delusional Optimist about how a majority of other bands look at each other? Definitely some interesting, inside baseball talk here.
