What do you do when the world has forgotten you? Flophouse, an original ensemble musical, explores eight people’s struggle to re-enter a society that disposed of them long ago. It’s 2009; Obama’s in the White House, Billionaire Bloomberg’s in his third term and America’s in a devastating recession. Down in New York’s Bowery District residents of a flophouse or single room occupancy, learn that, thanks to gentrification, they have three days to find new housing.
