Welcome friends to Back Issue Bloodbath, a comics-centric podcast presented by Geek Hard. Join hosts Andrew Young and Petula Neale as they get down and dirty in the four-colour world of comic books, focusing on classic stories, new issues, comic creators and hot button topics.

This week brings us a very special episode. Joining Andrew once again is Adam Sikora. If you’ve heard Adam on the show before, you already know that he is a hardcore Avengers fan. So it only felt right to have him back to talk about an Avengers tale from the early 2000s. 2001 to be specific. While it was an arguable hit in its time, this is another Avengers tale where its quality has not stood the test of time. This week on Bloodbath, we look back on The Kang Dynasty.

Written by Kurt Busiek and featuring artwork from several artists, The Kang Dynasty is an attempt at an epic sendoff. Clocking in at 15 issues in length, the story’s goal is to present Kang as the biggest Avengers baddie there is while also tying up all of Busieks hanging plot threads before the end of his run. Whether or not it succeeds on both runs is debatable.

Join Adam and Andrew as they relive the story that was once called The Kang War but is better known as The Kang Dynasty. There’s also talk of Kang’s shortlived career in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Andrew and Adam are big Avengers fans, they don’t let that cloud their judgement when giving their critique. Enjoy!
