Avenue Red are pleased to push out some local North East talent with this deep, dubby, punchy, driving mix of house music from Ctrl resident, Nicky Mann.
"This mix was put together with the sort of records I play on a typical night at Newcastle nightspot The Tanners Arms, where I am one of the residents. The pub has a very eclectic and open music policy, hosting events across the spectrum of genres including house & techno nights to dub/drum & bass, Balearic & disco nights too.
As the crowd is so open-minded you can be very varied as reflected in this mix. After the dubby start I was picking up records more on impulse for how I felt at that time (which probably shows). The Tanners is actually where I first met Alec so this vibe seemed like a good place to start.
I'm resident at Ctrl which is a Newcastle-based house & techno night, it's been running for years and was the creation of Damien Walker and Neil Scott. I joined them around 5 years ago and since then we have welcomed exclusive guests to Newcastle like techno heavyweight Rødhåd and also UK techno legend Mark Broom. Due to country changes and some growing up for Damien and Neil, myself and fellow Avenue Red podcaster Rob Moller are still picking up the Ctrl parties until they decide to return."
