Avenue Red Podcast #048 - Rob Moller

We are pleased to release yet another Avenue Red Podcast episode from a local Newcastle DJ: Rob Moller. Rob is a resident alongside Nicky Mann and Damien Walker at the excellent CTRL parties that have graced Cosmic Ballroom and various other venues in the City with some very fine electronic music, with guests including Rødhåd, Mark Broom and a slew of other talented local music heads.

Rob's Soundcloud page became alight with some incredible recorded mixes this year, both titled as volumes 1 & 2 of "100ft Under"... This mix was destined to become volume 3 of his new series but rather naturally for pathological chancers like us, we nicked it for Avenue Red!! :D

We noticed in the accompanying texts that the theme of the two aforementioned mixes was "hangover vibes... hence feeling 100ft under!". We quizzed Rob about the reason for this obscure time to hit the record button: "I started 100ft under that way and I suppose it's now a bit of a ritual! I think it has worked rather well for me. My collection spans across lots of disparate styles and genres and it gives me some kind of structure as I think being hungover makes me select tracks with sounds that help to sooth my mind and allow me to float away on the musical journey!"

This mix certainly is soothing: loaded with blissful, melancholic melodies; dreamy, ghostly tracks that make you feel like you ate the wrong kind of mushrooms in your bolognese meal earlier; hypnotic, trippy passages and some downright beautiful ornaments of the deeper shades of House & Techno music!
