ArTEEtude is West Cork´s first art, fashion and design podcast created and produced by Detlef Schlich. Schlich operates with his podcast cross-sectorally. For him, a visual artist has to think transversely instead of just enjoying the luxury of being the antagonist. To drive the narrative and to be a protagonist, he will dive and discover with us into the unknown and exciting deep ocean of the creative mind.
In this podcast Schlich reflects on his talk guests Bernd Franco Hoffmann and Zoe Szilagyi. He answers listener questions, continues his thoughts about the relationship between Wagner and Nietzche and other philosophical ruminations around this podcast.
He reflects on Bernd Franco Hoffmann´s inspiration for his very recent book Sex, Drugs and Symphonies which is supposed to be published in February 2021, from bands like Mötley Crüe, about his time as a music journalist and his embarrassing encounter with Carl Palmer (former Emerson, Lake and Palmer), his experience as co-founder of a pre techno electro-industrial band way back in the 80s and more.
Further Schlich reflects on Zoe Szilagi. They talked about Szilagyi´s inspiration for her very first drawings and her decision to become an outsider artist, about her body modifications and the difference between body modifications and trans-humanistic body enhancement and finally about her journey from America back to Europe.
Detlef Schlich is Podcaster, Visual Artist, Film Maker and Ritual Designer, living and loving in West Cork and best known for his Essay about the Cause and Effect of Shamanism, Art and Digital Culture and the video installation Transodin´s Tragedy. He is mainly working in the field of performance, photography, painting, sound, installations, and film. To research our human condition and create artwork from this reflection he is using often the methodology of the digital shaman as alter ego.
Hoffmann´s previously unpublished book “Sex, Drugs & Symphonies or The Incredible Story of Adrian, Riggbert & Theyler”, with its mixture of rock history, comedy and thriller, is a unique musical biography that has never existed before. On their odyssey through thirty years of real music and contemporary history, the three musicians meet historical personalities such as Romy Schneider, Elena Ceaușescu and Charlie Chaplin.
In 1983 Hoffmann (synth, tapes) founded with Guido Kopp (synth, tapes) the electronic industrial band SEKTOR, based in Cologne. Back then the audience in the pre-techno era said: "You can't let the synthesizer run for 20 minutes and nobody sings". After several concepts and band member changes, concerts all over Germany followed, including at Documenta 8 in Kassel, before the band broke up in 1991.
Zoe Szilagyi is making art since her very early childhood. She is an autodidact and considers her art as OUTSIDER punk art , dark art or underground art. She was part of the squatter scene in Berlin after the 'Wall" came down. Zoe is living and working in Hungary since 1990 and inspired by the unconditioned expression of life. Her experience with her loving parents brought her to the decision that life for love without judging is her form of life and therefore she devotes her life to the categorical imperative. She lives her life in the same way as she wants to be treated.
