Yes, I've experimented with caffeine AND endurance. Caffeine from coffee, from Yerba Mate, from espresso beans, from pills. From red bull (it's the caffeine that actually gives you wings), from 5 hour energy, from caffeinated sports drinks, and from gels. 

You could say I've had a lot of time on my hands to do so, because I've done a fair amount of endurance adventures and some races. And sometimes, they start in the wee hours of the morning, at midnight (thankful for caffeine on the skimo GT), and go long. Long enough to make me question my life's choices, my running shoes, my ski boots, and my sanity.
