In this episode, we find ourselves in the LHS 1140 system, orbiting LHS 1140b—a rocky Super-Earth in the habitable zone just 49 light-years from Earth. Its thick atmosphere and gravity make colonisation tricky, but its mineral resources have drawn interest from across the UFR and beyond.

The UFR Colonial Claimant Department has taken residence on the newly established Orbital Station “Kite's End” and have just finished it;s preliminary assessment, and three competing groups—each with partial legal rights—have arrived to finalise terms.
