Episode 161: Global Dance - UP! January 2023

Welcome to 2023. The new year brings with it a bucket load of new music. The January '23 edition of UP! is a blend of commercial pop, light progressive house and thumping big room bangers. The set kicks off with "Chemistry" by KREAM & Camden Cox. Ava Max's "Million Dollar Baby" moves into Lady Gaga's "Bloody Mary". Surely you've seen the dance craze associated with this song on TikTok? Cahill has been doing a lot of remixes teaming up with TDAG and they turn out a great mix of "Waiting List" by Ana Shine. Will Holland, who turned out excellent vocal trance mixes turns in a more progressive sound on "Afterglow" by Ana Criado and Toy Armada & Jace M work their magic on Whitney's "Don't Cry For Me". Tony Moran provides the vocals on a cover of Duran Duran's classic "Ordinary World". Roland Belmares takes P!nk's "Never Gonna Not Dance Again" to the main room floor - it's still one of my favourite songs from 2022. Rihanna and Beyonce` round out the maiden edition of UP! 2023. Two big months coming UP! with World Pride taking place in Sydney in February followed by the 45th anniversary of Sydney Mardi Gras in February/March. Something I'm very much looking forward to.
