Episode 160: Global Dance - Best Of 7th Heaven

Finally - after having in my mind to make this special podcast episode for over 5 years, I have managed to get my act together and can happily present to you the Best Of 7th Heaven. This was a massive task and the end result turned out to be a massive podcast. Over 3hours and 20 minutes of hit after hit mixed by the incredible guys from 7th Heaven in the UK. 7th Heaven is made up of Jon Dixon who is the main musician and programming engineer and Andy Wetson. Jon initially did freelance work for the Almighty label but set up their 7th Heaven label in the mid 2000's. I think the first 7th Heaven remix I became aware of was for "Shine On" by Degrees Of Motion and it is still to this day, one of my all time favourite mixes of theirs. The popularity of 7th Heaven grew as their ability to transform songs into uplifting, floor filling club anthems gained them more and more commercial success. As I was selecting songs for consideration for this episode, I was up to 80 or so within an hour. I managed to shave that down to 32 songs. Like Dirty Disco, Division 4 and Wayne G before, making the final selection was not easy. There are just so many good remixes to choose from. In addition to mixing for artists such as Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Chris Willis, Samantha Jade, Kelly Clarkson, Nicole Scherzinger, Kylie Minogue, Cher and a seemingly endless list of artists, 7th Heaven have produced their own tracks featuring artists such as Katherine Ellis and Belle Erskine. I wanted this podcast to be a love letter to all the amazing work that 7th Heaven deliver and what better way than to have it primed for New Year celebrations. Happy New Year everyone.
