Mike was born and raised in Albany, Oregon and graduated from Oregon State University in 1994.  Following college graduation, he chose to follow a paycheck instead of his passion (teaching and mentoring).  He worked for an insurance company for two years and quickly realized that a paycheck wasn’t going to provide for a fulfilled, meaningful life.  So, he returned to graduate school and received his MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching).  After teaching for 10 years, he pursued a dream of starting his own business, which would allow him to reach a larger audience of youth.  To date, Mike has shared his emotional intelligence teachings with thousands of youth (and adults) throughout the country.  His mission is to be a spark for positive, sustainable change in the lives of others.
