Why are some people more religious than others? For some it could be their upbringing and culture and for others it can be forced upon them. While the influences are many, new research suggests that whether we believe may also have to do with how much we rely on our own intuitions versus analytical thinking. Although some people hold religion in a positive light and have faith just to believe, I’ve learned that religion could also be a double-edged sword. People who violate religious norms may experience feelings of guilt or shame, or they may fear punishment from God. Is it possible that religion is not telling us the full truth about the Bible? Is it possible that religion was never meant to free us mentally, emotionally, or spiritually? Is religion trying to control the narrative of how we see life and the world we are living in? I see a lot of the younger generation questioning things more than the former generations and for me that’s a good sign that they want answers. Come explore with me the question “Can Religion Control Your Thinking” and come to your own conclusion of the matter.
