There is an African proverb that once said that “The sheep will spend its entire life fearing the wolf, only to be eaten by the shepherd.” Shepherds came to be a symbol of protection, power, and authority and oftentimes we give up our rights as human beings to leaders and people alike who have that authority, but no intentions of doing what they said they were going to do. They may seem innocent, but they have ulterior motives. They’ll use different tactics to camouflage their intentions. People don’t go out of their way to manipulate others unless they’re getting something out of it.
