Rent seeking merch stealing

After sharing an article on my Instagram about the culture of merch concessions, where bands have to give a % of their merch sales to venues, festivals etc. I was still surprised to see how many people are still not aware of the practise, so I dig into where it came from, why it's spreading, is it ever justified, and how post pandemic, lockdown it really has to stop, musicians are being price gouged enough left, right and centre without losing one of the few income streams they have left!
