This is the one time back story of how I got to be here.
In the first episode I go into my own personal back story of how I got to be here. The kid with braces and slight people pleasing tendencies with a lovely famiy unit. The education system I went through and my lived adult experiences that brought me to where I am today. Context is everything, my story and my life is going to be different to yours, and we are going to have shared experiences and understanding along the way.
I gently open the doors to the struggles I have faced in my later years, navigating the roller coaster of a loved ones addiction.
Because not talking about it isn't helping anyone.
I uncover how I came to create 'Addiction Makes Three' back in late 2019 when I felt so isolated and was seeking connection, and was inspired by Mrs D (Lotta Dann) Author of Mrs D Is Going Without/Within & The Wine O'Clock Myth to coin my initial identity in this space as 'Mrs L', which you'll see in my earlier posts on Instagram.
Let's have the conversations about addiction and how it truly impacts the whole family unit.
In this episode I am inviting you to stay curious and sit with me in your kindness and to really try and contemplate how challenging it is to start these conversations of struggle in a society that typically doesn't make it safe to put your hand up and ask for help or to start the conversation that things are not ok for you.
I share a poem I wrote that I wrote November 2020 as part of a support program I participated in for my own support, and at this time I had just lived through one of the hardest times in my life.
