Deleting Drama Means Realizing It's Not Always About You

Drama is all about emotions being exaggerated or manipulated. Since your emotions differ from those of other people, you might see the tension and possible problems where others see nothing to worry about. It is in this way that drama is very subjective. It differs from one person to another.

The Oxford Languages dictionary gives us this definition.

Drama – noun – "an exciting, emotional, or unexpected series of events or set of circumstances."

It's a series of events or situations where intense emotions are experienced. Many times you might feel threatened by what's going on. In most cases, the things you're feeling are largely negative.

Yes, there are situations where drama is potentially upbeat. Watching your favorite sports team play in a championship game is a drama of the highest order. You feel great when they win. Your dramatic experience is positive. Most of the time, though, the drama in our lives is such that we want to avoid it.

One way to disable drama daily is to realize that you don't always play a part in a particular situation.

It's not always about you. There are billions of people on the planet. They are involved in their own lives. While it may be sad to hear, most don't care about you or even know that you exist. So to interject yourself into activities and events that really don't require your input can potentially cause drama to unfold.

You're Never Responsible for the Actions of Others

Sometimes drama appears out of nowhere because of good intentions. You want to reach out and help somebody. You see a situation unfolding that you believe you can steer towards a positive outcome.

It's great to want to help people. Sometimes though, we enter a situation without all of the facts. What may look on the surface to be a problem might not be anything of the sort. If you jump into that situation with the best intentions, you can dramatically create a negative situation where none existed.

You should also remember that you can never control other people's actions.

All the world's best wishes and good intentions can't get some people to do what's best for them. This means your friends may constantly be involved in negative life experiences, and that causes drama in your mind. You want to help so badly. You wish they could see that what they're doing is causing a lot of negative tension in your group of friends.

The drama you're experiencing has to do with you and your feelings. Provide whatever help is needed. Then back out. Come to a place of acceptance. You've done what you can. Now calm your mind and emotions, and remember you're not responsible for other people's actions. This practice will help reduce the stress and drama you feel about the people in your life.
