Divorce was illegal in Italy until 1974. In DIVORCE ITALIAN STYLE when a Sicilian aristocrat becomes unhappy with his wife, he tries to trick her into having an affair so he can catch her in the act, then kill her. Because obviously murdering your wife is far less immoral than allowing women to leave their marriages.
