Some stories make the world seem extremely dark - like Hansel and Gretel’s parents just leaving the poor children in to forest to die, for instance. This tale is more sinister even than that candy-coated nightmare, and it really makes you question who is the monster after all? The hungry Ogres? The negligent parents?
