Bernard the bear, who loves to sleep, can't fall asleep for his annual winter nap. He tries everything, but nothing works. He seeks advice from a wise old owl named Archimedes, who tells him a funny story and then advises Bernard to tell himself the most boring story he can imagine. Bernard tries this, telling a story about a rock, some moss, and a slow-moving worm. He finds the story so incredibly boring that he finally drifts off to sleep, having discovered the perfect way to start his long nap.
