The Talking Hat

A young wizard named Pip accidentally turns his pet frog, Croak, into a talking top hat. Croak is very pleased with his new form, finding it distinguished and comfortable. Pip attempts to turn him back with another spell but only succeeds in making the hat taller and shinier. He eventually accepts his talkative new hat as a companion, finding its wit and advice useful.
