The Grumpy Gnome and the Missing Laughter

Bartholomew, a perpetually grumpy gnome, finds the Enchanted Glade's laughter mysteriously gone, causing the glade to fade. He discovers a mischievous sprite who tried to collect it. When the sprite's tears (which are sparkly and giggly) cause Bartholomew to accidentally let out a rusty chuckle, it jumpstarts the glade's magic, making Bartholomew, to his surprise, the reluctant source of renewed joy.
