Elaine Burroughs: Embracing Technology & Ageism

Elaine Burroughs is a Senior Technical Writer and trainer in the IT industry. She sees herself as a storyteller, creatively presenting complex information in a digestible way.

While Elaine hasn't faced blatant age discrimination, she highlights the challenges of working in environments with a significant age gap. She was discouraged from asking questions and shares the detrimental effect it can have on confidence.  The significance of supportive company cultures and the need for kindness and understanding in the workplace is key.

While Elaine is a "Gen Xer," she discusses her approach to new technology, highlighting that while she embraces it to a certain extent, she doesn't feel the need to be on every platform or constantly upgrade her devices.
