Warner Kennedy lived through the height of the Civil Right's Movement. The death of significant Black American leaders like Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. left an impact on his psyche. Not that the impact got in his way. Despite a few unique learning needs, what we now call learning disabilities or neurodivergent Warner was unwavering in pursuing a college degree.

He's spent decades working with deaf students in the Los Angeles area. In some ways, this is ironic given his unique ear for music. Warner has a special affinity for the movie soundtrack genre of music. He knows this stuff. Though he's not a musicologist, he could be.

Throughout the interview he shares lots of little known facts about the movie soundtrack genre and its roots in Black music.

Warner's favorite song: Goldfinger Theme song.

Warner's favorite book: The Book of Five Rings, a classic Japanese text on the way of the sword.
