The Giants have made a significant roster addition with offensive lineman Bryan Hudson, a UDFA rookie out of Louisville. Standing at 6’5” and weighing 305 pounds, Hudson’s athletic ability drew attention during the 2024 NFL Draft for his exceptional Pro Day numbers, showcasing his broad jump, shuttle run, and agility. Despite bouncing between the Detroit Lions and the New England Patriots practice squads, he now gets a fresh start with NY, though the question remains whether he can make an impact with his limited NFL experience.

As the Giants prepare for the game, they face criticism from a former coach. Ex-defensive coordinator Wink Martindale, now coaching at Michigan, made pointed comments about preferring a winning environment, taking a subtle jab at the Giants’ current 2-7 record. Former Giant Jon Feliciano also stirred controversy on social media, criticizing the Giants' offensive line coach in light of Washington's improved record. 

On the special teams front, injury updates indicate kicker Graham Gano and punter Jamie Gillan are nearing their return. Head Coach Brian Daboll mentioned that Gano and Gillan were limited participants in practice and could rejoin the team in time for the game against the Panthers. In light of this news, the Giants have released punter Matt Haack, who was briefly filling in but was sent back to the practice squad after four games.

The Giants also released cornerback Nick McCloud after he declined a pay cut, a move that saves the team $900K in cap space. Injuries to Adoree and Dru have tested the Giants’ depth at corner, making McCloud’s departure a gamble on cap savings versus depth. Art Green, a 24-year-old, 6’1” corner out of Houston, has been elevated from the practice squad to help cover the gap. 

As they shift to the game preview, the hosts break down the Giants approach to a Panthers defense ranked worst in the league in nearly every category. Carolina has allowed the highest points per game, total yards per game, and third-down conversion rates, making them a target for the Giants’ offense. With Darius Slayton potentially sidelined due to concussion protocol, rookies Malik Nabers and Tyrone Tracy Jr. may need to step up as the primary targets.
