New York Giants Free Agency Targets: Top Names to Watch for Big Blue

Drew and Rob dive deep into the potential free agency targets for the New York Giants, analyzing how each player could fit into the team’s roster for the 2025 NFL season. With plenty of names expected to hit the market, the Giants will have opportunities to upgrade key positions, but how aggressive will Joe be in making moves?  

One of the biggest names on the market is Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. At just 26 years old, Higgins has shown flashes of elite play, but injuries have limited him over the past two seasons. He’s never caught more than 75 passes in a season, but has still managed to put up strong numbers as a No. 2 receiver.

The offensive line remains a major concern, and Chiefs guard Trey Smith could be a big-time addition. At 25 years old, Smith has been one of the best guards in the league, ranking 11th overall per PFF. However, his medical history—specifically blood clots in his lungs—will be a major factor in any long-term deal. 

The secondary is another area that needs attention, and Dolphins safety Jevon Holland is a name to watch. Though he had a down year in 2024, his previous seasons have been stellar. The same goes for Jets cornerback D.J. Reed, who has been a consistent presence in coverage. Reed has experience mentoring Sauce Gardner?  

Another wide receiver option could be Bucs veteran Chris Godwin. While he’s coming off an ankle injury, Godwin has been a reliable target for years, catching nearly everything thrown his way. He has experience as a WR2 alongside Mike Evans in Tampa Bay, meaning he could seamlessly transition into a similar role in New York. 

If the Giants want to go the veteran route, Stefon Diggs and Amari Cooper are two big names to consider. Diggs, at 31, is coming off a season-ending ACL tear, while Cooper just had the worst statistical year of his career. Are they past their prime, or do they have enough left in the tank to be difference-makers?  

On the offensive line, Ravens tackle Ronnie Stanley and Vikings tackle Cam Robinson could be options, but both have had injury concerns in recent years. If the Giants want to upgrade the right tackle spot, would either player be willing to switch positions?  

At running back, Aaron Jones is set to hit the market after another productive season. While he’s still effective, he’ll be turning 30, and the Giants have to consider how much gas he has left in the tank. 

The cornerback market is also intriguing, with players like 49ers CB Charvarius Ward, Bills CB Rasul Douglas, and Lions CB Carlton Davis III available
