Giants Drama Heats Up! - Saquon’s Mom Fires Back & McKinney Speaks Out

The New York Giants remain at the center of NFL conversations, and this episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates* hosted by Drew and Rob dives into all the latest Giants news, rumors, and controversy. Giants GM Joe Schoen recently spoke highly of Shedeur Sanders, praising his football IQ, work ethic, and the influence of his father, Deion Sanders. While the Giants aren’t necessarily in the market for a quarterback this year, the evaluation process is in full swing, and Sanders’ name will be one to watch leading up to the draft.  

Meanwhile, the Saquon Barkley conversation won’t die down anytime soon. His mother, Tonya Johnson, didn’t hold back when asked why her son is playing at such a high level now. Without explicitly naming names, she made it clear she believes the Giants held him back, taking a shot at how the organization handled his career. If that wasn’t enough, Austin Ekeler also chimed in, calling out Schoen and the Giants on *The Dan Le Batard Show*, mocking their decision to move on from Barkley. He even took a direct shot at Schoen’s past comments from *Hard Knocks*, pointing out how Barkley has proven to be worth every bit of the contract the Giants refused to give him.  

The drama continues with Xavier McKinney, who made it clear in a recent interview that he never felt the Giants truly wanted him back. The former Giants safety said he could sense the direction the team was going, and while he remained professional and focused, it was clear that he wasn’t in the long-term plans. When asked about the number of players Schoen has let go, McKinney simply acknowledged that the Giants have their way of doing things and wished them the best.  

On a more positive note, Giants rookie safety Tyler Nubin is eager to make an impact. After dealing with an ankle injury, Nubin spoke about his personal growth, both as a player and a man, while adapting to the NFL. His mindset and leadership qualities could make him a key piece of the Giants' defense moving forward.  

The episode also explores the Giants’ quarterback situation, with Victor Cruz suggesting Sam Darnold as the ideal stopgap QB while the team waits for a potential future franchise leader—possibly Arch Manning in 2026. The debate around Darnold’s viability continues, but Cruz believes he’s the right fit for the job.  

Finally, the discussion shifts to Dillon Gabriel and the ongoing debate about his height.
